Call to Worship - Responsive

I give you thanks, O LORD, with my whole heart; before the gods I sing your praise;
We bow down toward your holy temple and give thanks to your name for your steadfast love and your faithfulness, for you have exalted above all things your name and your world.
All the kings of the earth shall give you thanks, O LORD, for they have heard the words of your mouth, and they shall sing of the ways of the LORD, for great is the glory of the LORD.
The LORD says: “Give attention to me, my people, and give ear to me, my nation; for a law will go out from me, and I will set my justice for a light to the peoples.”
Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth.
Let us worship God.

Prayer of Adoration

Prayer of Confession - Unison

God of mercy, be above us to judge us, and be within us to convict us of our sin. Teach us who worship false gods to fear you, the one true God. Teach us who commit evil deeds to obey you and you alone. Teach us who oppress our neighbours the ways of righteousness and truth. Teach us who do not pursue peace the futility of war and the blessing of shalom. Amen.

Question 59. What is the significance of Pentecost?
Beginning with Pentecost, God’s Spirit came to dwell with the church in a new and ever- present way. All Christians share in the Spirit, “being baptized into one body.” By the Holy Spirit, Christ’s Church comes alive, is sustained, and guided. And the Spirit also works freely in the world bringing goodness and justice.

Question 60. What does the Holy Spirit give to the Church?
A variety of gifts is given to individuals in the Church. These gifts fall into three main groups: those concerned with preaching and teaching, those concerned with service, and those concerned with leadership. Each Christian has his or her own gift and is called to exercise it in the service of Christ.
