Prayer of Adoration
Prayer of Confession - Unison
God of strength and might, we confess our neglect of salvation’s armour. We have not girded our loins with truth. The breastplate of righteousness is tarnished by our lax behaviour. Our feet are caked with mud from battles fought unshod by the gospel of peace. We have laid aside the shield of faith and weakened our defense in a hostile world.
Forgive us, Lord.
Help us once again to don the helmet of salvation and to raise the sword of the word against the powers that oppose you, so that in all our struggles we may rely solely on your strength.
Amen.

Question 67. Should Christians read the Bible?
Yes. The regular reading and study of scripture, together with the hearing of the word in public worship, are some of the richest joys of Christian commitment.
Question 68. Why does the Apostles’ Creed emphasize belief “in the holy catholic church”?
It does so to emphasize that the church is essential to Christian belief and practice. The church is holy in that it is set apart by God to be a chosen people in the world. The church is catholic in that it is universal, including all people of all time who affirm the Christian faith. To belong to a congregation is to belong to the holy catholic church.
